I have a feeling that this is one of those "you had to be there" moments. I got the impression that this was a fairly light-hearted bet, up until the $3/$6 bet controversy. I mean, it's not as if this is a $100 bet, it's $5! Calling for a setup isn't meant as an 'angle shot', it's meant to mess with the dealer in good fun, knowing your request is probably going to be denied anyway.

Once the true dispute breaks out, I think the dealer is in a tough spot. He really should be calling a houseman over, but since he was nowhere to be found, I don't fault the dealer for getting the action moving, sidebet or no sidebet. Certainly once the drunk has agreed to put in the $6, there is no more issue, and play can continue.

I am one of the few that thinks it's close, but you should still pay him the $5. Better luck next time.

Wow OP, you are a nit, and a stingy one at that. You obviously lost the bet. Man up and pay.

Dude - if you wanted the $5 so bad, why not just call for time on every hand on every street and then refuse to give over your cards until the dealer pried them out of your hands. Maybe even rip a card or two to force a set-up.

As it went down, you violated the spirit of the bet much more than the dealer did. He still managed to win. Pay da man his money!

It's only cheating if you specified what he was and was not allowed to do to get 11 hands out.

Give the dealer $6 for outhustling a hustler.

Good read, by the way. The tl;dr brats are annoying.

OP you strike me as a douche bag.

I am with everyone else, you should pay him $10 (an extra $5) and say "Sorry, I get very competitive sometimes."

If I were the dealer, I would walk away too. Whats the point in arguing over $5 when you clearly won't pay. Even after everyone tells you on this thread to pay, you won't.

I am trying to think of an metaphor for this situation. Its like having a race and tackling your opponent during the race and claiming victory.

Most lop-sided poll I've ever seen.

I can't find it, but there was a post in OOT that asked if the poster was a male or female. I think it was something like 500:5
