I'll be playing 8/16 1 or 2 times in this room this week, probably around 8pm. Say hello if you want to embarrass us both.

TT - I'll be checking this thread for your reviews later this week; I'm interested in your thoughts on the room. I'm in Phoenix several times a year (I play 8/16 LHE at CAZ, usually), and I'd like to hear how this room operates. The players are generally terrible at CAZ, so I'd also like to know how this room compares.

I find CAZ frustrating to play at only because the players dont pay attention and I prefer straight games rather than kill (I dont complain when the kill occurs, but I'd still rather a straight no-kill game). I'm going there this evening, should be interesting.

Update:

They are closed Sundays & Mondays. Sat they have a PLO game running, and Wednesdays they get 8/16 but other than that its all hit or miss. Always call Chuck in advance because you cannot tell what he will be spreading at any given time.

'The players don't pay attention' is my favorite part. It slows the game down sometimes but, really, how can anybody not love playing against THIS sort of player:

UTG raises. Folded around to the BB who raps the table to check his option. Dealer tells him the pot's been raised and he looks up in startlement and asks: 'Who raised?'

I can't count the number of times I've seen that.

That doesnt bother me, its the non-stop watching of sports on TV some nights which slows the game down to a crawl that bugs me. Of course the positive is CAZ has some of the softest games in the nation, but I'd prefer fast action over super soft only because the games are soft enough already that it barely makes a difference.

Played CAZ O8 6/12 while waiting for a game to open up, I can honestly say it was the best O8 game I've ever played. One guy called with A high/no low in a 30 something bet pot on the river to keep me honest - and showed his hand! I never thought I'd see that in O8... in hold'em yes, but wow.... o8 showdown w/ A high shocked me.

The 08 day game is usually pretty tight. The night game can be great depending on the line-up. There are a number of players who know how to play but mostly the players are horrible.

I picked up a rack in less than 1 down. Capped pre-flop and on the river multiway - and I scooped. Sick!

I've played at DD twice. Both times, the game was VERY slow...much slower than CAZ games (at least 5-150 and 20-40). Banter between the regulars slowed the game down, as well as the one or two drunks that were trying to play. I'm not sure if this is just poor sampling, but both times, there was at least one drunk in the game, which as you know slows things down horribly.

Again, maybe I just hit the place up on bad nights, but I played 4-8 both times and it helt like we were getting in maybe 25 hands an hour. It was a good game, but I personally don't have the patience to put up with "What are you holdin' Chuck? Two pair?" over and over and over again...espically in a low-stakes game.

I am glad to finally find a place to play besides CAZ. I'll be checking this place out tonight and posting a review tomorrow.
