fwiw, I don't care that he disagreed with the policy, but the way he reacted and handled himself is not indicative of someone who should be a mod. I guess if you guys want to plead temporary insanity for him that's fine, but all the information I have on him is from what he posts. And this is recent.

I've found that people are willing to mature when given mod status. I wouldn't rule him out based on those posts alone.

I want to know dids objections since he knows him.

I dont know the guy well, but I just met him. He came across as a leader in the 20 or so minutes of time we spent together. Thats was honestly my only impression of him, that he was a team leader.

Kyle's a little rash, judgmental, racist. He was one of the people up in arms about the whole Yves thing. I just dont' think he's really mature enough to be a mod. He can be mature and smart, but that just becomes more frustrating when he decides to act like an idiot.

also his "I'm not going to contribute to the forum unless you make me a mod" post is a little ridiculous

I'm just playing devil's advocate, I actually have no opinion other than the on I already shared. with that in mind the forum he is being asked to mod is the The Gym. Is there much risk of him making an error in judgment there? Sounds harmless to me, a good spot for someone who might be a bit of a firecracker.

I'm going to side with Kyleb on this.

I don't know him from Adam, so I'm basing my decision mainly on his posts in ATF, but also taking into consideration Mat's two sage thoughts that "mod maketh the man", and "motivation is motivating", (or the five m's, as I call them).

I do admit that as I read his post that said he wouldn't put as much effort into the forum if he wasn't made the mod, I thought, oops, not the thing to say. Although then, as I thought more about it, I'd bet most of would think exactly this in the same circumstances, but perhaps not be as forthright and honest in stating it, up front.

I really don't think it was intended as blackmail, but more a reactive statement of his immediate personal feelings from his obvious perceived rejection, (after my own post that suggestions for Gym mods from among existing mods might be helpful at this stage of the game).

In fact, I suspect that even if he were not made mod, he would join in with full gusto, within days, as the topics that will be covered are obviously dear to his heart, but as new readers came to that type of forum, the fact that charts and programmes, etc, were coming from the mod would add that little more credence to their content.

Overall, I see little harm that could come from making him the lead mod of The Gym, but potentially a great deal of good and interesting content could very well be the result.
