Raise cause I play good and they play bad. [/ QUOTE ] Although this may very true for many of you in many games, using it as a basis for pre-flop strategy is basically a self-weighting strategy and not necessarily profitable. The reason I posted this thread is because QJ, especially QJs in certain pots in certain games can be one of the best damned hands in limit holdem. In some games, the hand sucks. Why am I raising and 3-betting with AKo and folding my beloved QJs to a raise? I feel like I dont have enough gamble. If I never called on AJo again I dont feel I would be giving up much. But QJs is the best hand ever. I should never fold this, except sometimes. -J |

QJs is also one of those rare hands that I'll consider coldcalling with second in.

I dont raise with QJs because its a great hand to see a multiway flop with so i want as many limpers as possible so you have great implied odds when you do flop a big draw. It is also one of the few hands that i will cold call a raise with preflop

What about us asian people ? [/ QUOTE ] Whoa, Bob T. is Asian? OP, I try not to sit in games where I can't play QJs. I'lll raise it after a bunch of limpers on the button; I'll raise it in LMP or the hijack or CO to buy the button; and I'll limp it after a limper or two in EP and MP. QJo I'll play in LP if I don't think I'll have to pay two bets to see the flop. I'll also steal with it from the hijack and later. -McGee |

I'd raise QJ in EP if I thought I could steal or get heads-up with one blind.
I'd raise QJs in EP in the same situation. I'd also raise it if we're almost guaranteed to go 6-or-more-handed to the flop. |

QJs? In EP? Why or why not.
It all depends on the conditions of the game and how well you play on the flop and post flop. Loosening your preflop standards will force you to improve on your post flop play/skills. The better you play post flop the more hands you can play upfront preflop. |
