The classic 2050/4100/17 level. They really needed to do colorups on this show, though. Using 25's at 1k/2k is ridiculous. But hey, so is the use of cash bundles, so why not.

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] This week, there seems to be excessive table talk. It seems that every hand, players not in the hand are putting the players in the hand on hands, goading the players as they think, and influencing the action way too much. No one at the table has objected yet, but isn't it still poor sportsmanship? Is Phil Hellmuth the only top player that would object to this much table talk? [/ QUOTE ] Remember, this isn't a regular poker tournament; its a made-for-TV entertainment vehicle. Therefore, table banter is to be expected and encouraged. I for one found it hilarious when Ted Forrest kept going back and forth between Jesus and Sammy on the JJ vs. AKs hand, encouraging each player not to let the other guy bully him off the pot. [/ QUOTE ] I agree... they've done a good job creating a home game atmosphere by having stakes that no one present is overly concerned with. At the same time they try hard b/c they dont want to look like idiots on TV so the poker is still good. This looks to be a good week of PAD. The only player at the table that seems outclassed is Clonie. It is nothing against her, but I just think that she plays really weak tight and consistently seems really intimidated by her opponents. Isn't she ever going to get used to playing with these people? She has been on multiple televised events, you would think she would be a little more relaxed by now. Btw, she is probably way better than I am, I mean its not like I am talking about Victor Ramdin here.... |

After two or three weeks of solid poker - a donk fest. Jesus excepted.
The talk is bad because they don't say, "Kids don't try this at home." The producers tell the players to yack it up. That kind of talking about hands and strategy in multiway pots is wrong, wrong, wrong. I like the announcer too. So sue me. |

The announcers are silent most of the episodes and let us hear all the table talk. That to me is a sign of a good announcer. Granted, he doesn't add much to the broadcast.

[ QUOTE ]
The commentator is horrible. It makes my head explode to think that NBC is actually paying him to commentate this show. Not this show specifically but on other episodes he tries to chime in with unwitty, corny one liners. He adds no actual insight. Part of the show's concept is to let the players talk freely but when one of the players starts an interesting story the commentator talks over him with useless dribble. Perfect timing to try and display your incompetent analysis/color commentary. I never thought that a tv commentator could infuriate me but this one actually did it. I'm even more infuriated by the fact that I'm infuriated by a totally inept commentator showing my lack of any social life. [/ QUOTE ] Actually, starting in week 3, Nejad has really toned down the commentary. The first two weeks, he was absolutely awful, but he changed after that. Fewer sarcastic comments, less talking over the players. I think he does a very good job now. |
