Well you have two options.

YOu either think about showdown for 1 more bet or you just give up, check behind then fold to a river bet.

I tend to bet the turn and take the free showdown. If he c/r me I bail.

Snitch, you might want to try doing a search in Micros for the phrases "check behind with outs" and "checking behind with outs". This subject comes up fairly frequently, and this phrase nearly always appears.
