I don't understand why you wouldn't just wire the money to the cashier cage, use the chips, and then have a check issued at the end of the trip. It is so pointless to carry large amounts of cash in the 21st century.

Or heading to a casino you don't completely trust (they ain't a bank--they aren't FDIC insured). Or even simply not wanting to leave a blatant paper trail?

I agree about the paper trail. If you have more than 10k in cash that you want to wire to the cage, you are going to have to deposit that into a bank account (most if not all require this now). The bank will then wire the funds from your account to the cage...after they fill out a Currency Transaction Report for you "deposit".
Not a smart thing to do if you are trying to stay below the radar. Two words: Money. Belt.
