let's face it, the 90s sucked. Rock is a dying art form - the golden age was from the 50s to the 70s - everything since is just a rewrite.

Holy crap, so the single from Citizen Dick, Touch Me I'm Dick was a take off on that? Man I guess I need to be more of a music junkie to appreciate Cameron Crowe films.

I am a big fan of Superchunk. Try the "Here's Where the Strings Come In" album.

I think for me it's a metnal block where I consider '90s rock' a genre that is basically crappy, but catchy pop rock music for the most part, these bands, tool, AiC, Nirvana, etc, don't really make the cut, in a good way.

how ctrl + f didn't find alice in chains before i wrote this post is also beyond me... but whatever

tool still stands. undertow and AEnima were both released in the 90's (as well as opiate), so basically every track off these discs should make a final cut

yeah this makes sense, considering the 90's basically sucked in terms of good rock music released

also, did mother love bone release anything in the 90's?

oh, and go ahead and add corrosion of conformity and pantera to this list, unless you hate metal

I'm ignoring some bad comments about the quality of 90's rock.

Another band you should add to the list is Sonic Youth. Also, I'm surprised nobody mentioned Metallica. U2 might not be thought of as a "90's band," but they released some of their better stuff in the 90's (Achtung Baby, for instance). In a similar fashion, Aerosmith had a nice album in Get A Grip. Nobody mentioned Rage Against The Machine. And how could nobody have yet mentioned Nine Inch Nails? The Offspring deserve at least a mention, as well. Does Beck count? Modest Mouse? Spoon? My Bloody Valentine? Garbage? Neutral Milk Hotel? Primus? Sevendust?

One of my favorite bands is Queens of the Stone Age. They don't get much love here, either.
