I broke 500GB the first month I got usenest access. Didn't hear anything from Cox Cable, though.

[ QUOTE ] I've also heard Comcast throttles people they suspect of torrenting. No idea if that's true. I do know I'm spending $100/month for the most basic cable TV & internet possible and those f**kers should let me do whatever I please with it. OTOH Cable is a shared bandwidth system, so it is pretty lame that a few heavy torrenters can slow down the whole block. [/ QUOTE ] cancel the cable tv, and you will still get it [/ QUOTE ] this is not necessarily true. i wish people wouldn't always parrot this "fact" as more and more often they install the necessary filters when you cancel your cable tv. |

This happened to me in dail-up days just from playing RTS games online!
As to your doing the bad thing, once you get a good ratio, you might as well tone it down some. Your big "overuse" may come from having something hot and new. Maybe you should just stop seeding earlier than you're used to. |

OTB,
I hate comcast and if there was something else I could use at this point I would. They are the only ones that come out here to my place. I hope comcast rots in hell. X |

Re: Comcast: Excessive usage gets OTB a mean phone call!
I have a feeling that because you mentioned that you download torrents that your upload bandwidth is what put up red flags. I've had DSL for about 4 years now, and I download somewhere in the neighborhood of 200-300GB monthly as well, and I've not once gotten any communication about my usage. Of course, my downloads are all off of usenet, and other download-only type places. I can probably count on 2 hands the number the of times I've ever used a torrent.
Bottom line: try cutting down on your uploading. |
