How many beers does it take to get you drunk?

Tangential question: does the exaggeration/bragging about how much you drink thing change from high school to college?

My perception was in HS everyone exaggerated how much they drank, because everyone else did. In college people started to realize that was kind of dorky, but still did so. They'd specifically mention how much they drank and then add something like "I'm not proud of it/I wish it took less" as though that somehow makes it not bragging/exaggerating. Obviously sometimes the amounts were accurate, but I noticed some friends in particular who were definitely not drinking what they claimed.

Is this isolated or is this pretty typical?

Typical. Especially the part where they are like "meh/I wish I didn't have to drink 3 kegs to get drunk" after bragging. I'm pretty sure a few people have lied in this thread.

Modest kids won't exaggerate while lame-os will brag, standard in every situation IMO.

The time frame you drink them is huge, I don't normally crush 10-12 beers in an hour (like someone earlier mentioned - in fact, I never have), but if I did I would certainly be drunk. On the other hand, I could have 20 in a night and not be that drunk - over 6-7 hours.

I usually start with quick round of shots before I go out - 6-8 shots and a couple beers within an hour. This gets my very buzzed-slightly drunk, but not stupid... then I will slowly drink beers for the rest of the night.

FWIW I am 6'6" 215.

Ya, time def does play a part. I once did a 12 pack in less then 45 mins playing turbo cup with a bunch of ladies and then funneling the rest and that was the first time I ever got sick off alcohol. Was good for about a hour, went to smoke a stoge and after one puff I puked instantly, while my friends just standed there laughing cause I always bragged about never puking before from alcohol. Learned my lesson...

Its weird cause I predrink like a bottle of wine or 2 cans + 200ml of vodka redbull and then go out so when I actually go out I only need another 3-6 beers to be drunk and 6+ will get me gone.

im small, 5'9 143, but I do drink like 6 drinks (or more) about 3 nights a week, sometimes 4-5.

Very Drunk: 11+

I've only been in the very drunk stage 1 or 2 times. I usually can't drink only beer to get drunk because I get full before anything else.

A few shots + 10 games of beer pong with shots sometimes in-between games is usually enough to do me in.

At around 6 I get a slight buzz
At about 10 its about as drunk as I can get

Also there's been a few nights where I'm on like 3 or 4 beers and feel smashed.
