Yea, but you get what you pay for.

I have thought about opening a dealer's school, but there jsut aren't enough casinos that insist their poker dealers do it the right way.

Jeez, sign me up. There are a lot of degreed engineers in Silicon Valley that don't make 50 buck an hour.

Is that why I see floor dealing sometimes? To make some extra jack? Or are they actually shorthanded when it comes to dealers?

Read my entire post.
If you make $40 an hr in tips, but only deal half your shift (8 'downs' out of an effective max of 12), you are actually making $20 hr plus your minimum wage, or about $27 hr minus "expenses", giving you about $24 an hr.

i have not, and don't ever intend to not pay my full share of taxes, but this statement is ridiculous. uncle same/IRS catch less than 1% of those who cheat on their taxes.

My comment was about dealers who claim $20 a shift in tips, not about those who report $120 when they actually made $200. The first sends up too many red flags for the IRS to ignore for a long time.

So dealers in the U.S pay for their training? Also, anyone knows if there is a difference in the salary depending on what games you still? BJ, AR, PB and LP?

"salary" is the same

Free school + 1 year experience > any school + 1 week experience

Wisconsin casino: A dealer told me he was quitting to become a Milwaukee police officer. He claimed he would be taking a pay cut. Milwaukee police start at ~$38,000.

The amount dealers make various from place to place in AC. The Borgata dealers make ALOT more than they make at Resorts or Trump Marina.

You also have to take into account that most casinos don't offer benefits for Part Time dealers (most dealers are designated as Part Time). \

Also, as far as poker goes, it all depends on how good you are. If you suck you're going to get less tips. I'll say the average poker dealer in AC makes about 40k, though i'm aware of some really good (or some really hot) dealers that can pull in 100k+.

What do you mean by "salary"? Is this tips included? Do all gaming staff take tips?

How long are the training schools? AR? Poker? BJ?

One of the dealers at Sahara came to Vegas from Seattle and said he took a pretty big pay cut doing so. Seems the tokes are a lot more generous there. Well... at least at Sahara (no surprise there).

Tell that Milwaukee dealer to move to Vegas where the starting LVMPD salary is $46K going to $48K upon graduating from the academy with another 4% after 6mo and another 4% after 6mo more. Average LVMPD cop makes $75K including overtime and shift differentials and whatnot, and folks with 10 years average $83K and 15 years is good for $88K. The highest paid officers in the county made >$160K by working enormous overtime (we're talking ordinary officers, not the execs). They may shaft the teachers out here, but the taxpayer take care of the cops.
