I guess if you're right my computer's workload will be cut by 50%, since its one and only exclusive function will be porn

[/ QUOTE ]

i think this whole "ban poker" campaign has been funded by the online porn companies who have been missing out since everyone has stoped surfing porn to play poker.

however, i hear the lcd monitor companies are not happy because no one needs high res monitors any more because no one is 10 tabling while watching porn.

no one has taken me up on my money laundering offer yet either

Meh. Don't believe the hype. Aussies are descended from criminals. Clearly an untrustworthy lot.

Go Canadian. All you have to worry about is self deferential humour and a massive inferiority complex that manifests itself in excessive politeness. Reasonable rates for my Micro peeps. Except the ones I don't like. You know who you are. Yes... I'm talking about you.

dudes...it's over.

seriously, how long did you think the "internet player turns $40 into $3.5 million" thing would be slid under the rug. there is nearly one of them on every night on espn or the travel channel or whatever. poker is so mainstream now that it was just a matter of time before the government stepped in and put a stop to it. let's just be glad we had such a good run of it and be happy. it's not the end of the world.

Apparently Neteller has shut down all withdrawal options for US customers. There is hope that this is temporary, as they're apparently trying to find someone to process their cheques again. As it stands, you can't load Neteller debit cards any more, and there is talk of some previously loaded ones being declined. Cheques can be requested, but they're not being processed. And EFTs are off the table for what seems like the foreseeable future to me.

Anyway... there's a big thread in the zoo about an an 'alternative way' to get your cash out. We joked about this stuff earlier in the thread, but if anyone is desperate to get their balance out and:

a) doesn't want to wait to see how things will get sorted out despite the fact that there's most likely going to be a solution from Neteller at some point in the not too distant future

b) is dealing with a relatively modest amount of money

I'd suggest that we should be able to come up with a "made in Micros" solution given the number of established, non-US posters around here. I'd be willing to participate in a not-for-profit community project to help get people their funds if we collectively agree that there's a need.

Peer to Peer Neteller transfers have a fee associated with them (I think it's 1.9%), so this wouldn't be free... but given the very small time commitment involved we should be able to take care of our own without feeling the need to charge fees. I'm all for making money, but this seems like profiteering given the amount of time people spend helping each other out around here.

I'm going to suggest that larger balances be exempt for now (or left to be negotiated between individuals on a case by case basis), but I'm open to arguments.

So... any thoughts? It might be too early in the game to start worrying about this stuff, but it seemed worthwhile to at least have a conversation about it.

As you should. Think of the poor windows.

Meh. All I'm suggesting is that rational conversation about options is a good way to stave off rash, and potentially roll damaging, decisions. And it's always good to have a viable plan in place well before it's needed.

As I said in my Well, I'm willing to wait forever, if need be. I want to be able to play online poker for money. The money that's on the sites right now isn't coming out any time soon, anyway, so it's pretty meh.

All my monies are in my bank accts or poker accts. I haven't had any money in neteller since the UIGA but if you do have money there it's in limbo: can't cash out and can't deposit to poker sites. I think that's what the discussion is about and a good one at that. Just be careful people. Don't just trust anyone and try to have safeguards in place to prevent yourselves from being burned. Not to mention the pitfalls of dealing w/neteller themselves right now. good luck all. I can't imagine how I might could help, but if there is a way, I'm willing.
