Re: How Is My Student Doing? If She Does Well, I Score. FT 100.
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] shove river. obv call a shove or push over a small bet. [ QUOTE ] Reads: Villain's stats show 33/12/1.9 in 200 hands. My wife observed, "He had been making weak-ass bets on the flop and I had been raising him out." Who is this person, and what has she done with my wife??? [/ QUOTE ] awesome [/ QUOTE ] I know. Villain checked, and she pushed. She said she really thought he had a scared overpair but would not fold because she had pushed him around previously. He called and flipped 22. She wondered if she had botched the hand, but I told her there was no getting away and she made the right move. 4_2: No way she would post on here. She'll read responses regarding threads about her hands, but she knows the male-dominated world too well and desires not to dwell in it. Not exactly the most mature forum in the world... [/ QUOTE ] What your telling ME I am not mature!? *farts* Get to know me first. |

i'm sure this is something you have to tell your wife on a daily basis
'i'm trying to get it in!' seriously, i wasn't too thrilled with the flop raise at first but i read the OP again and think it's good. I think we're ahead here almost always. Hand range? TP, overpair, etc. I think a set/better trips is roughly never here. |

Re: How Is My Student Doing? If She Does Well, I Score. FT 100.
I don't know why people are hating on the flop raise. OP's wifey had a read that villain folds to PSRs after his weak bets, and she went with it. The turn drastically improved her hand, betting is standard. Before OP posted results, I'd swear this was a scared overpair that won't fold river.
nice hand, tough break |

Re: How Is My Student Doing? If She Does Well, I Score. FT 100.
Call flop(altho as shes been raising flops this is OK).
Turns fine. River - if he bets/pushes, i expect overpairs/missed draws/boats/A9x & id prob be calling w/2:1 and the recent history and will call. If he checks betting isnt bad idea, A9 and overpairs(Hmmmm not sure if he has one) will call. Altho i dont mind checking since cant be trapped by boat, FD's wont call, nor will overcards, overpairs will tho. Boat would make sense since he doesnt need to bet turn to protect it and would also call the big raise on the flop too to "trap" you. |

Re: How Is My Student Doing? If She Does Well, I Score. FT 100.
In this situation you have to consider not only $EV, but also sEV, which is the expected value of getting laid after the session. sEV goes into the tank if you even consider folding on the river, because you don't win pots in poker by folding, and failing to win this pot would likely upset your wife because, come on, she has trips.
I'm more worried about T7 here than anything else, but aside from that villain can make a crying call with A9, TT, etc etc if he's fed up with getting raised off hands. You'll rarely see a monster here. And come on, you have trips. [ QUOTE ] I should also say she plays golf (20 handicap who drives it 200 yards) and loves to watch sports. [/ QUOTE ] Haha, I'm like a 30 handicap that drives it 250 yards (when I actually hit the ball straight), I [censored] hate golf |

And my question for her was, "What is Villain's hand range?" [/ QUOTE ] who cares, you have three eights. |

[ QUOTE ] And my question for her was, "What is Villain's hand range?" [/ QUOTE ] who cares, you have three eights. [/ QUOTE ] Heh. But I'm really trying to get her to consider ranges more. The other night she wanted to bet the river OOP HU after she raised AJ on a board of J436J. It was a three-flush board and opponent was supertight and aggressive. I told her to check/call and she picked off a bluff. Led to a good discussion. |
