I know people who automatically put ketchup or tabasco sauce on everything, even before they taste it. I don't think anybody would care in a restaurant, but it might be considered rude to slop ketchup over a plate of spaghetti if you were a guest in somebody's house. Of course, if they knew the ketchup addict well enough, they'd already know he doesn't mean anything personal by it. So, amongst good friends or strangers, I'd say it's just fine. But if you have a friend that you are only just getting to know, it might be best to explain to them so they don't think their cooking sucks!

I'm one of those that puts tabasco on everything. Not sure why, I just love it. I go through a ton of tabasco.

I have noticed that ketchup is an ingredient in several Chinese dishes and many chefs use it when they create food dishes. Bottom line is, food is meeant to be enjoyed, and what difference does it really make what people put on their food? They are the ones eating it!

See, it's all just a matter of personal preference. People should season their food with whatever they like and what does it really matter to everyone else?

This is bad, but not as bad as people putting ketchup on steak.

cbloom,

Were they Japanese?

[/ QUOTE ]

No, they were American, but they had lived in Korea for a while, no idea if that's relevant. I was too shocked to question them and they just acted like it was totally normal.
