I didn't realize these guys would be taking an active role in coaching you. I think it sounds like a blast, but if you go busto you're screwed. $1400/month is alot for rent. Can you easily find a job that pays 45k+ if you need to? Is so, no brainer, go for it. I just wasn't entirely sure of your situation.

It doesn't matter if they would, because I wouldn't accept it. I'd get a job to become robusto.

Then either way sounds like you should take the place.

adanthar,

Is it really illegal? It's 5 people moving in. More info would be greatly appreciated. I was shocked when I heard I had to put down 7k.

What is with the post college "lets live together & play poker, yo!" stuff. Play time is over, now is the time where you should be attaining a steady income and playing poker with your disposable funds, and perhaps finding a lady friend. I can't believe none of your baller friends wouldn't rather move in somewhere with a g/f.

The benefit of doing that is you don't need to 'depend' on being able to beat 200NL to barely get by with rent, you would receive a steady paycheck. And also you would appear to be stable and possibly a good catch, I can't imagine a guy living with 4 poker buddies as being able to reel in the mature lady.

N, Dementia seems to think it's a bad idea. Seems like that makes the choice obvious. Good luck in LA!

Yet you have an 11k bankroll in which you'd need to pay your 1400 a month rent + other expenses, as well as using that same stake to make more monies while trying not to have any downswings? Doesn't sound like a smart plan.

p.s. I'm not trying to attack you, you posted here seeking feedback and I'm being honest. I think you should do something a little more realistic with your current budget.

Nation,

Is there anything preventing you from doing this via AIM/forums/whatever? That de facto coaching and improvement on your game can be found without placing yourself in a financially iffy situation.

RE: the 35K. Was this what they asked for, or what you guys offered?

Dementia,

Remember i have 5k in an investment that matures in a few months. i should be able to cover my monthly nut easily, i think.

dids,

they asked for the 35k. also i dont think you can really compare sweating other players and talkuing about hands in person with aim or forums. i really think that i have to take risks like this in life if i want to someday play 25/50. i dont want to be a grinder for life.

so what type of job would you be getting if for some fetch of chance you did go busto...you need to make $1400/month + expenses (gas/food/booze) & enough to save for a new BR so you need to make ~3k month (then you get to keep 2.1k or so after taxes) without a college degree and work experience... you also said you would never deal professionally.

also, don't forget when feb/march rolls around and you need to file your income taxes from your winnings.
