Given the abiltity to throw a 300MPH fast ball a 350lb morbidly obese slob or a 95 year old on his death bed guy would still start for any MLB team no?

So High Stakes Poker Players Are The Best Athletes?
[ QUOTE ]
It seems that under certain definitions, the answer is undeniable. In spite of the fact that almost none could compete in the decathalon or the old Superstars shows.

(...)

1. Most people here think an NBA team could not beat a SSNL poker team but they could beat a high school football team.

2. Most people here think mere blazing speed can overcome average athleticism if you want to play in the NFL. Clearly not enough for poker.

3. Most people think that a mere foot in extra height can overcome average athleticism if you want to play in the NBA. Clearly almost irrelevant for poker

did "most" people really think what you said? i thought the general conclusion in the NBA thread was that an 8 foot schlub would not start.

What are you smoking if you think Pro basketball players can beat a good high school football team?

Right, because smaller, slower, less coordinated teenagers would clearly be able to overcome huge fast strong amazingly coordinated adults. Why? Teamwork.

I'd type more but I fear the convulsions from laughing might overcome me.

these questions are absolutely retarded, because noone will ever come to a consensus regarding what "athleticism" actually is. Major league centerfielders are unreal athletes, many of which have spurned major D-1 offers for bball and football in order to play baseball. There are plenty of exceptional athletes in MLB, as well as some not so good ones (relatively speaking). The same goes for football and basketball. I'll give the NBA the nod for having generally the "best athletes". but that opens up a whole other can of worms. All NBA GMs and scouts seem to care about these days is athleticism, which is a huge reason why the NBA is so crappy. They can win the battle over athleticism, but they also lose the war in terms of their sport sucking ass to watch because of that battle.
