Obviously its a bigger advantage for females because men are more often in a position of influence. |

"ugly" men can still be charming and rich and sweet and intelligent and it makes up for it. Ugly woman do not get this perk.
Also attractive men can be [censored], and greedy and evil and they'll get people to react to them negatively despite their attractiveness. Hot woman can be bitches, greedy, evil but they'll still keep their perks |

look at it this way. You are going to have 2 children, one a boy and one a girl, one gets to be slightly attractive and one slightly unattractive, how would you shell it out? i would definately give the girl the looks and just focus on the boys other traits.

Re: is attractiveness a bigger advantage for males or females?
[ QUOTE ]
I think men treat attractive and unattractive men very similarly in most situations. [/ QUOTE ] A guy's attractiveness isn't really an issue to me. The kind of energy I might spend on something like that is spent instead on bouying up or blowing up my own ego or else focusing on women. Women seem to me to be very different, thinking a lot about how attractive other women are and constantly comparing themselves. The things about men that I think of are, whether they are jerks, cool, entertaining, interesting, trustworthy, foul-smelling, or threatening. Unless they have a heart-shaped ass. |

[ QUOTE ] One point I think is that, it depends on what area of life you are talking, as good looking woman will have a tough time getting people to take them seriously, in most "non-sex-related" areas, like math/science jobs etc. [/ QUOTE ] Better looking woman are generally thought to be more intelligent, and being hot probably helps there chances of getting a job. [/ QUOTE ] Tons of jobs rely heavily on appearance, and in many of those, men are not even hired at all, and unattractive women do little better. |

Re: is attractiveness a bigger advantage for males or females?
Attractive men are treated better than unattractive men by a larger segment of the population (males + females), but attractive females are treated many, many times better than unattractive females by a small majority of the population (men and some females), and not that much worse (if at all) by the remaining minority of the population. The edge for attractive women among the majority (men mainly) is so much larger than any "attractiveness edge" a good looking guy gets that I think you have to go with women here, despite the fact that good looking men are treated better by a larger population set.

I dunno man. I notice that hot girls don't hang out with ugly chicks (with the exception of the ugly friend who is always DD), but guys will hang out with anybody. Meh, it could also be a generation thing. This metrosexual generation is different from what I grew up with.
