The chain of events after this. Probably not the saddest, but certainly up there. Lori [/ QUOTE ] Could you please explain the story behind this for those of us who are too young? |

He scored an OG in the World Cup and the Columbian goverment killed him. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, right. He was killed after a bar fight. The killer allegedly ridiculed him by shouting "Gol!!!" but it's only conjecture that he was killed because of the own goal. If he was killed for the OG, it wasn't the freaking government. |

I don't know if it counts as sad or inspirational (probably both), but when the Red Wings gave wheelchair-bound Vladimir Konstantinov a ride around the ice with the Stanley Cup in 1998, I was practically blubbering.
It's so unbelievably tragic, to see a guy who's a world class athlete one moment and then in the next moment he can't even recognize his friends any more, let alone walk. On the other hand, the genuine love and affection his teammates showed for him in that ceremony was something to behold. |

I was going to say this if no one else had. Watching that was terrible [ QUOTE ] Dave Dravecky [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] I was playing in a MABL game in Indianapolis around 11 years ago when this happened to the pitcher on the opposing team. I was on first base when it happened and it sounded like a gun went off. Horrible sight. |

I run bad at guessing random facts. |
