The chain of events after this.

Probably not the saddest, but certainly up there.

Could you please explain the story behind this for those of us who are too young?

Yeah, right. He was killed after a bar fight. The killer allegedly ridiculed him by shouting "Gol!!!" but it's only conjecture that he was killed because of the own goal. If he was killed for the OG, it wasn't the freaking government.

I don't know if it counts as sad or inspirational (probably both), but when the Red Wings gave wheelchair-bound Vladimir Konstantinov a ride around the ice with the Stanley Cup in 1998, I was practically blubbering.

It's so unbelievably tragic, to see a guy who's a world class athlete one moment and then in the next moment he can't even recognize his friends any more, let alone walk. On the other hand, the genuine love and affection his teammates showed for him in that ceremony was something to behold.

I was playing in a MABL game in Indianapolis around 11 years ago when this happened to the pitcher on the opposing team. I was on first base when it happened and it sounded like a gun went off. Horrible sight.

A player on the opposing team got cancer, beat cancer, made a comeback, got cancer again, had his pitching arm amputated, got cancer again then died while you were playing the game?

Lol at asking the story to be explained because you are too young and then having your twin brother respond.

Sorry I'm retarded. I remember hearing something like this happening. You know I was this close to just posting use google or use wikipedia or something. I run bad at guessing random facts.

Yes. The chemo equipment made it difficult to round second base.

His arm broke in two while he was pitching.
