this was my thought when i read the title of the post. it was also my thought after i read the hand.

I call BS on this coming from you man. No chance you are folding for 1/2 a bet against a field of donks.

I agree, no compentent 2+2er is ever folding 76o getting 11-1 here in a live game, assuming the BB is sane. If they say otherwise I simply wont believe them.

when have you ever seen me get out of line with a hand that wasn't suited?

and also, the fact that i think folding is correct doesn't necessarily mean i'm folding. i don't play good.

I certainly play on the tighter end of the TAG spectrum preflop but I would play here. I am concerned though when JT says it is a muck because he is way "competent".

http://www.pokerstove.com/analysis/unsuited.php

what is the cutoff then? 87?98?

[/ QUOTE ]

thirddan,

87o, and 98o have a little more chance of winning with pairs and better straights. Mine is about 98o and sometimes it's T9o in a 1/2 structure.

Why do I get the feeling this is a trick question and im walking into a bear trap......anyways, the approx pot odds the hero is receiving preflop at his point of action is 11-1. I use the word "approx" to qualify this since the BB will raise a nonzero % of the time. I just feel that getting these pot odds, and factoring in implied odds assuming I play well postflop, I can turn a profit on this call.

An analogous example can be found in HPFAP, page 45 where David Sklansky/Mason Malmuth talk about calling from the SB in this same kind of situation with a hand like 86o.

this is a pretty decent pf discussion. i regularly complete in this spot, but now i am reassessing. either way i think it's close. i also think it's table-dependent and not an absolute either way. i also think i intend on c/f alot of flops even if i do complete. that pokerstove link was interesting. okay, ive not added enough for now.
