Permanent videogame forum?

I've tried to start several video-game related threads in POG before the Mod Playground became Video Game Central. They got almost no views, and very few responses. I think it's definitely a topic that could sustain a forum.

if we don't make a separate forum, maybe after this week people will know POG exists and come to POG to talk about video games

Frankly after thinking about it, I'm not sure there actually IS enough interest/traffic to sustain a video games forum. I mean, look at the topics in here; most of them revolve around the consoles that just launched, and most of THOSE aren't even so much about the consoles themselves but about buying one or whether they're going to flop. All of that will die down within a couple months after launch.

The problem with video games is that a fair number of them (sports franchises, for example) don't lend themselves to much discussion. Plus there are enough titles where there might not be enough people that buy a particular title to discuss it. Other than a few killer-app games, I can't see most threads getting much response.

A better post-mod playground solution might be the creation of an Official Thread for discussing each system, where people can discuss the system itself (whether it's going to succeed, how to get ahold of one, peripherals, online features) and whatever games they want to talk about.

Whether those threads should go in POG or in OOT, I dunno. OOT moves fast enough that they might get pushed off a bit too quickly. POG's image would prevent many posters from ever seeing the threads in the first place.

Anyway, just some thoughts.

yeah but "in here" is mod's playground, a temp forum that most people have never heard of or noticed (even now).

Fair point, although I can't say I've noticed an abundance of video game topics in OOT in the past either. I could be wrong, I might have just missed them.

So do I. I don't know how much traffic the mods playground forums usually get, but I think there's been a good amount. Of course it has coincided with the PS3 and Wii launches, but still...
