Hell yea Ryan!!
The case can be made that Howard is more valuable because the Phillies suck without him. The cardinals are still a successful team without Pujols (granted, not as successful as with him). And I think that's what the MVP award is all about. |

[/ QUOTE ] We could argue about that all day, but I personally think that it's not the right way to look at it. Most valuable should mean "had the greatest marginal value in terms of adding wins to the team" not "what was the win total of his team with him compared to what it would be without him". The second approach factors in his teammates skills too much as a baseline. It basically says that no matter how awesome you are, if your teammates suck then you can't be the most valuable in the league. That doesn't make sense to me. |

What's worse: Howard #1 or no Brian McCann?
What's truly maddening is that the writers seem to think that this was a case of "better player vs post-season player," and they gave it to the better player. |

These votes are tallied before the playoffs begin and then announced later, isn't that correct? I think you could make a case Howard meant more to the Phillies during the regular season. However, now that we know what we know Pujols is clearly the MVP. Another reason MVP awards are vague, often inaccurate, and pretty much suck.

I want the idiot who voted Pujols third to be stripped of his credentials.
