I don't really know what's the best way to handle this on a first date, but for sure don't be afraid as there are bouncers and people all around you. I'd either just look at the guy in his eye intently for a few seconds so that he knows I mean business, then just repeat that it's cool we're leaving, thanks for letting us know.

oh ya, here is my real advice when it gets down to it, get the bartenders attention when the girl is looking away, etc, call the bartender over, slip him a 20$ and explain the situation. go back up to the girl, and say, we wont have to worry about those dbags anymore, as the bouncers/management throws them out.

If you stay calm and just leave the bar like it's no big deal you won't lose any points...
if, after you leave, u shiver and weep while soiling your underpants mumbling "I can't believe I almost got my ass kicked by 4 college drunk dudes" then you are pretty certain not to get any sex... evar!
