The SEC Champ and the Pac-10 Champ (assuming each finishes with 1 loss) will both have very good claims to the #2 spot in the country.
The real clusterfuck will be... Boise St and Rutgers go undefeated USC runs the table. (Alternatively, they lose to both ND and Cal who end up with 1 loss apiece.) Florida wins out convincingly. Michigan loses a heartbreaker in Columbus Texas wins out. At this point we have 6 (or 7) teams with a legitimate claim. I'd rank them: Michigan Florida USC (or Cal) Texas Rutgers (Notre Dame) Boise |

btw, if USC beats Cal, I could absolutely see the USC-ND game be hyped as the "National Championship Semifinal".

Right now USC and Fla are virtually tied in the computers, but USC's SoS will be harder than Florida's if they both win out and probably higher in the computer polls.

[/ QUOTE ] USC would finish ahead of Florida in the computers with their schedule. The polls are Florida's best chance. Here's hoping to an Auburn/UF rematch. |

How is Michigan playing in the title game "bad for football" while Texas playing in it isn't? Didn't Texas get destroyed by OSU at home already?! [/ QUOTE ] Totally agree. I think Texas or USC getting there would be a joke. |

I do not want to see Texas or Michigan get a rematch with Ohio State. |

How would USC getting there being a joke? If they win out, they'll have beaten a simply monster schedule. Michigan played a much easier schedule and will have already lost to OSU.
If USC wins out they should be in the championship game ahead of any other 1 loss team. I doubt they'll win out because of the brutality of that schedule, but if they do they deserve it. |
