Re: STARS 1K6m AK TURN PLAY (poll included)
by button do u mean CO? if so do u guys have a history? the way ur playing ur hand seems like u have jj qq or something along those lines. would he try to push you off? anyways your only behind 88 22 as i dont see him calling a minraise with anything else that beats you. i guess k8s is somewhat possible but unlikely. tho i think weaker kings and some combo pair + draws probly compose most of his range.
the way u have played this hand puts u in a terrible spot because any play at this point is not going to be good, but merely the best of the worst. assuming you call he could have a ton of real outs and/or a ton of bluffing outs. half the deck or more leaves u in a tough spot on the river. checkraising u lose 150bbs to a set when he has it, if hes good he probly doesnt call with anything else. that being said id still have to go for a checkraise here as i think losing to a set every now and then and taking down a decent size pot every other time is better than calling a riverbet when he improves to the best hand or folding when hes bluffing. the fact that ur oop makes this river spot terrible |

Re: STARS 1K6m AK TURN PLAY (poll included)
I think your line is fine as a variation. Board isn't drawy, free cards aren't terrible/etc.
I'm for the call/check for both hands, although I might push the second one, if I have reason to think he could look me up a bit light. I think stacks are still deep enough, in hand 2, that' he'll bluff sometimes, and he could certainly vbet a worse hand, as well, if he would call with KQ or something, PF. |

Re: STARS 1K6m AK TURN PLAY (poll included)
brian, i see what you're doing here, but i dont think the bet sizes clearly represent (what I imagine) you're going for.
hand 1, if you call, there is 1340 on the river and effective stack is 900 hand 2, if you call, there is 1640 and effective stack 750 so clearly any bet on his part within that range forces you to make a stack decision w. the turn call. the argument (looking at this and replies) is that if you make the call hand 2, you are OBVIOUSLY committed, and therefore can eliminate opponent bluffing, whereas the first hand you're in a more tenuous position. FWIW, situation 2 looks much more like a bluff then situation 1, but the best play in both will likely be to call and check the river, as others have mentioned |

Re: STARS 1K6m AK TURN PLAY (poll included)
what is the typical river plan in these two spots, if you c/c turn?
