DaveR,
what have you ordered that you like? Mostly I have desert there, apple pie ala mode is nice, as is the Halo Halo smoothies.

I went to Foxwoods for the first time last Saturday and was bummed that they don't let you eat while playing. Although the free drinks were great.

Yummy hot dogs and delicious Asian food.

lol, suppose i walked into that one, although at the 6/12 tables both times I've been there, it was a mix of middle aged asians, grandpas and me. In that crowd, my description would be a bit more helpful.

Right, because these are unique creatures in the Bay Area. Wait, maybe you stand out by wearing a baseball cap and/or a hoodie.

They are in the cardrooms.

Maybe I spend too much time in Bay 101.

Why is it called Artichoke Joes? What role do artichokes play there?

the full story is on their website, but i think the basic story is the orignal owner would take any sized bet back in the day, and always joked he would pay them off with artichoke leaves if he ran out of cash.

Time charge is $10/half I would say most people buy in for $2-$4k though some buy in $10k+

[/ QUOTE ]

Another thing that should be mentioned is that the times I went, the players have agreed upon a "time pot". Every half an hour, a hand played would be designated as such and if the pot reaches $300, (s)he would have to pay the time collection for the half hour ($90). Personally, I love this arrangement as I've never won a time pot in about the 20 hours I've played there.

If you do not agree to the time pot, then you can put up your own $10 per half hour while the winner of the time pot only pays $80. I've only seen one person object to it, and everyone seems to like this arrangment.

No guarantees, but since Friday we observe Veteran's Day and I don't have to work, I might be there to play NL.

there is another great place for limit hold em; casino san pablo

they have 3/6 and 6/12 running daily; 12/24 on wed night and 8/16 on the weekends. because of the bad beat jackpot, the pots are pretty juicy, but the games are still beatable

try not to be there late at night though (after 3am); you may find 6 prop players milking 2 other fish on the table and the game is no longer profitable

i think starting next week san pablo is having a $300 to $500 no limit game; for those who dont want to play 2k min at AJ, san pablo is a great alternative

just my $0.02

Wow im so happy that San Pablo started a bigger NL game. They must have had a change in management since the old management I knew well thought NL was evil. Im going to be going to that one
