I've decided to play every singe FF game in order...

I'm about half way through the first and I want to kill myself

You should have taken part in my "Final Fantasy Challenge" in POG. I did the same thing.

Whoa, they have this kind of thing over there?

I beat part one on the NES in 1996...it's not THAT bad. Are you playing the GBA version? If so, I think it's acceptable, 18 years later, to play it on "Easy" so that you can quickly move on to the newer stuff.

The reviews have some very bad cons, which are making me want to not buy this game. It seems like a big grind and waste of time.

Almost all RPGs are grinds, but if they have a really epic story and some cool fighting system they become enjoyable.

It's all just mental masturbation. You can grind FF12 or you can grind poker. But in the land of Ivalice I'm no longer a small stakes nobody grinding out just enough money to support my food and rent habit. Oh no, in the land of Ivalice I am Vaan defender of Rabanastre and aspiring sky pirate!

[/ QUOTE ]The cool fighting system is apparently nearly all automated.

Beat: He's only 50 hours in.

What the hell kind of a nerd are you? 50 hours in a month is not nearly enough. You didn't deserve that early copy.

So this is the first FF I've been pumped about since 7. For those that have played it how linear is it? Am I actually going to enjoy the game (FF7) or am I just going to be going through the motions so I can see the cut scenes (FF8).

Also how is the combat system? I heard it was automated, but I also heard that the fighting is more intense so you actually need to automate things cause there is just tons more going on.

I'm drunk. My too-hot-to-be-a-gamer ladyfriend bought this tonight and put in three or four hours while I watched. It looks amazing so far. The cinemas are breathtaking, and the battles look a little too close to MMORPGs for my liking, but still very fun.
