Interesting thread. I haven't been watching the news, so I didn't know how pathetically little coverage it got.

I guess we just have to face the facts. We online gamblers are a small special interest group with no clout. Although this issue is "huge" in our world, the majority of Americans could care less.

Where did I hear that Annie Duke is going to be on the Free Speech Segment of the CBS Evening News with Katie Curic? Did that happen? Is it going to happen? If so, anybody know when?

I don't understand how there can't be more news coverage of this since online gambling clearly corrupts our children, destroys the fabric of our society, and, most importantly, supports terrorism. Surely, Congress (once again) saving us from ourselves should merit quite a bit of major media coverage. Or maybe I'm missing the point.

Oh well, time to log on and buy some lotto and play the ponies!

No disrespect to anyone directly involved in the accident, but the american media is apparently fully booked since a baseball star died in a plane crash that looked somewhat like the 9/11 incident.

Just an update, a bunch of iraqis died today, as well as a bunch of poor negros in the ghetto. I don't think the news had time to mention.

Oh and the poker thing, who really cares about the law, in general? LETS SEE SOME CARNAGE

God bless america.

1. We're at war in Iraq and Afghanistan
2. Our trade deficit is growing
3. World oil supply is diminishing and energy prices are whipsawing up and down
4. North Korea is testing nuclear weapons, and...
5. I can't play 1/2 LHE at Party Poker anymore.

The fate of online poker is insignificant. Coverage has been non-existent, and for good reason

Don't worry, Dateline NBC and company will be making big waves of the successful passage of anti-gaming laws. Just give them a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, I'm practicing up for PARTYGAMMON. Maybe play some Magic:the gathering for cash too.

Actually, theres a headline on MSNBC.com, "law unlikely to stop online gambling"

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15240569/

"The biggest obstacle to an effective federal ban is the Automated Clearing House network, or ACH, an electronic processing system used by the Federal Reserve that currently can’t tell a gambling transaction from a mortgage payment."

CNN is busy with some chick who has five husbands.

every news cast on the radio in los angeles (kfwb) has mentioned it today almost every 20 minutes. It is a combo thing wrapped with the port authority bill so everytime one is mentioned, the other is almost like an an also-ran.
