I will say this and yo will laugh but if you are playing poker IN CLASS, you have a gambling problem. I'm being totally serious and will sound like some old guy but I have been there, done that and know what comes next.

BE CAREFULL.

Ughh...no. and if you used to play poker online in class, how old can you be?

Class is boring. The far more reasonable answer to why someone would play poker online during class is that they are bored.

[/ QUOTE ]
Not to mention if they have no other source of income.

I'm one of the boring professors in these rooms, and I think it's great when someone is playing poker in class. Many people need some secondary stimulus to fight boredom, and poker requires just enough focus and time to keep the mind from wandering far off topic. For those who are mostly auditory learners (those who don't take notes, yet retain most of the material), poker is likely ideal for a second stimulus.

I also tend to get good results from poker players, as I make the classes aware I play, so the players feel some kinship to me (I think).

2-tabling might interfere with paying enough attention to the lecture, though... unless it's REALLY boring.

For some reason, I think your opinion on this matter is in the minority.

I am not arguing that contention, I am simply interested in an official census that would rate how many professors would share that view.
