As others said, wow. Did you ask for the manager?

[/ QUOTE ]

No, but I said something along the lines of "I don't mean to complain, but if a drink is dumped in wife's lap, I'd at least think you might comp the drink." She said "well, let me go check," came back and just dropped the check (with the drink comped). I should have asked for a manager, but we had a crying kid so got out of there. So without having asked for a manager on site, is it worth writing a letter? I'm big on writing letters.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is either a joke, or you are a completed [censored] moron.
They should have comped you, and you should not have to ask. Since they didnt, you should have gone off on the waiteress, and demanded the manager. This has to be a joke, no way does any place ever try this crap if they want to make a customer happy. Did the waiter know you had to go and buy new pants because of this?

[/ QUOTE ]

Like I said, I normally call for a manager, but it was late and my niece was really starting to act up. We just left the cash and left. The waitress had to have known, since I left, and my wife had to stand up beside the booth while I went and got the pants. Also, and I don't think this really matters since the waitress witnessed this happen, but it was the food runner, and not our actual waitress who dumped the drink. She was right there, though, and knew.

At the end, the bill included everything, including the drink.

Call the manager and explain what happened. If he isn't outraged with how it was handled, kindly explain that will be the last time you'll ever be eating there and to go [censored] himself.

The way it was handled by your waiter was absolutely ridiculous.

I went to Denny's once with like 5 friends in college. They dumped a tray of waters on me. Every single one of us had our meals completely for free (of course I was shivering the whole time).

Edit: The only cash we left was the tip.

You can't be serious. Any self respecting establishment would not have made you pay for the meal.

Is OP joking or did he really not bitch the [censored] about this.?

OP, I'd love to be able to handle myself the way you did..

Not necessarily because of the way you handled it, but because if you didn't fly through the roof like I would have, you are probably a very laid back guy. I need to borrow some of that from you.

I believe it came to $68 and change, and we left $70.

I am pretty laid back, but usually this stuff makes me go off. However, when it happened, and along with wanting to get the kid out of there, the thought honestly crossed my ming that I'm stupid to feel entitled to anything. The problem was essentially fixed (albeit through a pair of $45 pants), and we otherwise enjoyed our meal. It sounds stupid now, but it was enough to get me out of there.

Well, your wife was probably psyched to get a new pair of pants, and have a husband that doesn't freak out every time something goes wrong. You went out to have a good time and relax. You did your best to make it happen. Nice work.

You definitely shouldn't have left a $2 tip.
