I don't think I've ever watched a full episode of Oprah. My mom had it on a lot, so I've seen bits and pieces when I was little. It is interesting from time to time, especially when they have big stars on. I'd never watch it now though.

Stop Drinking The Two-Party Kool-Aid!!

Without knowing anything in particular about any particular candidate, I generally vote this way:

1. The Libertarian candidate.
2. If no LP candidate, another independent candidate.
3. If only Republican and Democrat candidates exist, the non-incumbent.

[/ QUOTE ]

I understand the reasoning for 1 and 2. Could you explain the reasons for 3?

[/ QUOTE ]

2, because most people who belong to a 3rd party think the major 2 parties are corrupt
3, to prevent any one candidate to become too entrenched/have too many longstanding deals with special interest groups. Similar logic as what you see behind most term limits

As much as the Dems were kind of with us on this one, they still oppose most everything I believe in on defense and economics. So I can't stomach voting for them. I won't be voting for most Republicans now either. I've always been pretty libertarian anyway on social and economic issues. So I guess I'll vote my conscience next time around.

You're going to have to explain that. I'm willing to listen, but certainly seems like a step in the wrong direction.

the guy has a point. I've long maitained that the letters to the editor I write to my local paper hold a LOT more power than my vote twice a year (we tend to hold our municiple elections in the middle of the summer, and I deem them to be a LOT more important to my wellbeing than the national or state elections every November).
