I love this speech. Problem is, he's getting way too philosophical to resonate with anyone practically. Take that whole speech and apply it to smoking crack. Almost all of it still applies.

[/ QUOTE ]

Is there a good reason why smoking crack should be illegal?

When is he up for reelection? I'd probably give 2:1 he doesnt get reelected, making way to much sense to be in politics here.

[/ QUOTE ]

Like every other member of the House of Representatives, Barney Frank is up for reelection every two years, that includes this coming November.

Congressman Frank is a fixture in the House and has been there for at least 10 years and is likely to win reelection in his very Democrat-friendly district as long as he wants.

He survived considerable controversy over ten years ago (the usual congressscritter mix of employment, prostitution, etc.) which resulted in the Boston Globe suggesting he resign and he received a reprimand in the House. Although his district still supports him, I highly doubt he will ever seek higher office.

No, but let's get the general public to be okay with online poker and marijuana before we work on crack shall we?

One other interesting Frank fact is that he is the only Congressman who is openly gay. Also, you can add Harry Reid and John Conyers as at least partially in our corner. Link
