So we are in agreement that a winning player in 2-4 on Party could make a living playing poker?

[/ QUOTE ]

Absolutely not. That is a gross overgeneralization. The percentage of the poker playing population that has all the skills necessary to play poker successfully for a living is tiny. There is so much more involved than just knowing how to play well.

[/ QUOTE ]

to me i think its really easy, i did it in 2002 and 2003 and started at 10-20 for 40 hours a week, and eventually moved to 20-40 at foxwoods, and did really well. eventually i moved online and have no need to go anymore. i think if ur disciplined in ur hours , dont play blackjack or anything it is a easy livng. and also the 2-4 games on party are tuffer than the borgata 40-80 since the 80-160 softened the game. and id say .50-1$ is alot tuffer than foxwoods 20-40.

[/ QUOTE ]

How often is there a 40/80 game available at the Borgata. And if it is truly this soft, why don't more semi-pros sit?

[/ QUOTE ]

the thing with poker players is they have big big egos, if there is a 80-160 game and theyre in the 40-80 it is like wtf is wrong with him , is he runnin bad, he must be broke etc, i was at bellagio in the best 100-200 game ever , all my friends ( 3 2+2ers) are in the 200-400 with stoxtrader and 2 other AC pros in the worse game in the country asking me why im not in the 200-400? the 40-80 game runs everyday , its a later starting crowd at like 1-2pm , but basically no one good plays live , if they were good theyd play online for a living

If this is true and I am playing 10-20 on Party, then that's equivalent to like 500-1000 or more B&M. NO WAY this is true. I am at best a 20-40 B&M player even though I win at 10-20 online.

If you're this good at logic, you should obviously easily crush the 500/1000.

If you can get over the amount of money you might lose in a routine hand, you'll be fine. Calling a river bet for $4 is easy, but you might incorrectly think twice when it's $40. Just something to be aware of ahead of time.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is the critical issue. You can find some really juicy 8/16 to 20/40 games, but you have to be comfortable with the variance you're sitting down to. If not, you're not going to play close to optimally to beat the game which will only make things worse.

Lol at some responses in this thread.

Every limit game 40/80 and below in Vegas is soft. The 10/20 at the Mirage is a total joke. I think it'd be tough to find a game 40/80 and below that plays as tight as the average 2/4 online table. That's not to say that 2/4 is necessarily tougher, but it's definitely tighter.

The 2/4 full ring Party game is a tighter than a rat's butt. Maybe it's not so bad during prime time evening hours, but I've happened to play it at other times and find it difficult to beat, although I tend to play a bit loose. By loose I mean 22VPIP which I found out will make you a looser in that game. If you play tighter than hell and play well postflop, you can probably eke out a small BB/100 there, outside of prime time at least.
