Some are already in this thread, but my choices would be any Coen Brothers' movies (barton fink in particular), any Terry Gilliam movies (brazil, the Fisher King, fear and loathing in las vegas, and time bandits in particular), any kurosawa movies (especially Ikiru, 7 samurai, Red Beard, Ran and Yojimbo) except that abortion Stray Dog, the french movies Blue, White, Red, Delicatessen, Amelie and City of Lost Children, and for a little Brazillian action, City of God.
Those are all good places to start. -bb. |
