WSEX GM -- If the Senate passed an identical version of the house bill and it was signed into law, what impact do you think would have on your site? Would you still take bets from Americans?

If all this does is prevent people from using credit cards and this is the end of it then I hope this bill passes. Even the dumbest person can make a neteller account. This is much better than what the house has proposed. If they pass this and dont bring it up again to add on more stuff this is a good compromise if the article has it correct.

I am 99% sure some kind of legislation is gonna be passed. This is a watered down version and might be the best offer they are gonna give.

I forwarded that little article to my Mom who is extremely interested in politics and somewhat interested in the gambling legislation because of me.

She has always voted Republican and is very conservative.
I, OTOH, am pretty gosh-darned liberal.

But she, like many Republicans I believe, doesn't understand why their own party is so hyper about this (her words).

I just find it interesting how out-of-touch guys like Frist are with their own party.
Even the non-gamblers out there, including those who vote Republican, mostly seem to be of the mind-set that this is a really stupid thing for congress to be concerned about.

A Frist aide contacts someone from AP and tells them that this will stop people from settling gambling debts with credit cards. And you guys don't realize the extent of what it will actually do - stop bank transfers, etc.

Once you lose casual players the whole market collapses, poker is built on a snowball effect. Once casual players are gone breakeven players start losing, and then small winners start losing after BE players, casual players set the market.

Its just a means of making it illegal and then they can have raids and fine anybody in the U.S. who gambles on the internet. Then all the pros with there faces plastered all over the websites and tv commercials will have to move overseas and when they return to the U.S. for a tourney they will get arrested. The hammer is coming, Washington State has already started it. It will probably take a few years though. Canada might be a OK place to go. Just not alot of poker there.
