5 years ago I couldn't find a Pats fan. Now, everyone likes them. It's near impossible to seperate the real fans from the bandwagon jock-riding fans.

This is why I replied to your statement about real NE fans. It's hard to hear any real fans when so many jock-riding fans are screaming blind how great the Pats are.

Correct, I never said the pats were going to win the superbowl. I was just a little sick of all the Miami talk.

Yeah, obviously losing one game on the road against last year's champion after having the lead in the 3rd quarter means you are terrible.
Also, who needs to even see NE play a single game to give them 12 wins. If there's one thing I know about the NFL, it's that you can count on the same teams to dominate every single year, due to the relative lack of injuries and roster turnover.

I'm not an AFC East guy so I'm not sure about all the Miami talk, but I'm not completely sold on Miami not being good. They didn't play well at all on Thursday, I don't think the Steelers played all that well either, especially in the first half, but they have some new guys and probably will take a few games to get going. There were times, especially in the first half, where they were moving the ball very well on offense, against a very good mostly intact from last season defense. On defense they did well up front for the most part at not giving Batch a lot of time. I suspect that there were some open receivers he missed, but there were also quite a few plays where he had a fair bit of time to throw and couldn't find anybody open. Pittsburgh doesn't exactly have the best receiving corps but Miami's big weakness is supposed to be their secondary so I thought they did better than average in that area.

So all-in-all I think it was not a good effort by them but it's not obvious at all that they will not challenge NE. I think it would be foolish to pick the over the Patriots at this stage but I'm not ruling them out yet, especially when New England hasn't played yet.

After today's Bills-Dolphins game, it appears the Dolphins have to improve a lot more before becoming a playoff contender. The Bills were hurting defensively going in and and their offense has little chance of being impressive with the young Losman as QB. Yet, the Dolphins nearly got shutout at home.

At the time of this post, the Patrios lead the Jets 17-0 at halftime in New York.

I think the Bills may be the biggest worry the Patriots have in the AFC East. The Bills played them tough last week.
