Re: two-a-days
They play Tulsa Union on Fox Sports Net on Friday Sept. 1. I went to Union and they have had pretty strong teams in the past. They won the Oklahoma State championship last year and should be pretty good. They have a new head coach and it should be interesting to see how they do.
Union is also one of the richer school districts in Oklahoma. If you have ever seen a Oklahoma State University home game, you will think that Union modeled their field after them. Also fun to notice is the resemblence of Union's "U" on the helmets is similar to U of Miami's (Fla.) I think Hoover is a stronger team but hopefully it will be a good game. |

Re: two-a-days
CR: Maybe you should stay out of the thread until you are better informed.
All: I thought it was OK, but not great. Chick they pranked w/ the stool was hot. I don't understand the drama w/ the dude, doesn't seem to add up. I wish they showed more game footage, but I guess they are pressed for time. It's kinda weak that they have tried to make both games look like last second critical defensive stops but when you hear the final score that's not the case at all. |

Re: two-a-days
I graduated from Hoover (it was Berry High School back then) in 1993. Even back then it was the largest HS in the state, around 2500. We won lots of state championships in lots of sports, I wrestled, 2-time state runner up (brag)
The thing that I found most interesting about this show is the amount of integration since I was there. My senior class had roughly 600 students and maybe 20 blacks. From what I can tell the racial make-up of the school has changed a lot in 12 years. Also; it is not as wealthy an area as some previous posters have stated. |

Re: two-a-days
Also at Union, they have hosted at least the last two Mid-Continent Conference Championship Tournament in basketball at the school. A college conference tounament is played in a high school gym.

Re: two-a-days
Hoover is not one of the biggest high schools in the state anymore. IIRC it has under 2k enrollment.
It is fairly wealthy for AL, but is probably only the 4-6th wealthiest school in the B'ham metro area. They don't need to recruit. Kids who wanna play at a top 25 program nationally can just move into the Hoover district and play there. And people do. |
