why does it matter that he plays 38/30? those are for different reasons.
his advice here is just fine, he's advocating sometimes limping with MPP to the regular full tilt populace... that's just fine. why does it matter that he plays 38/30? those are for different reasons. [/ QUOTE ] it's stated in terms of what 'I' would do, and it's not what he would do at all. hmmm. [ QUOTE ] his advice here is just fine, he's advocating sometimes limping with MPP to the regular full tilt populace... that's just fine. [/ QUOTE ] Well it's better than folding but worse than raising. The 'logic' of limping because you don't want everyone to fold when you have 88 is very bad. Hell that's how my mother thinks abut poker. Raising all of these hands is incredibly standard for a variety of reasons and practised by every respected player that I can think of. |

Who is Greg Mueller?
http://www.cardplayer.com/players/st...g-Mueller/1341 Thats a good start, if you google him you can find other sites that have tracked his results. He has 5 cashes at this years WSOP, so far, 2 of which are top 10 finishes. So far he is 90th on Card Player's 'Player of the Year' board which puts him ahead of: Paul Wasicka, Gavin Smith, Barry Greenstein, Patrik Antonius, Scott Fischman and Annie Duke. I guess if anyone criticizing him as a 'clown', 'mega bird' or whatever has better results, we should be reading your article first. :\ There is an entire chapter in NLTAP which centers around stack sizes and uses pocket 8's as the example. It compares various preflop actions against each other. Conclusion, "Limping is clearly better." Are David Sklansky and Ed Miller 'respected player(s)'? I should hope so. I like what John Vorhaus has to say about them too: http://magicpalace.ultimatebet.com/c...?articleID=135 Tear apart Vorhaus if you want, I like his writing style. I could care less that he is the only "poker strategist/theorist to have written for all four major poker publications: Card Player, Poker World, Poker Europa, and Poker Digest." |
