I think the push was reverse psychology. He bet on the button, which he usually does, and Phil Ivey knows that. So he raised in the BB, hoping to take the pot down, but Gus knew that Phil Ivey would bet because he always bets on the button. Gus thinks has a mediocre hand and decides that a push will do it. He knows that the SB will fold and Phil Ivey is only going to call if he's willing to gamble.

The pot was already headsup after the first raise. But what is his range?

Gus is known to push with any two cards that he believes are live. I would say any medium suited connector, high pocket pair or AK.
