Re: My Best Friend (former?) is a drug addict who keeps ripping me off
DN,
I went through that entire thread you started and never saw a single mention of illicit substance abuse. Although the Party BJ addiction may actually be the dumber of the two habits. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, He had been off and on tweak during his college years, but I hadn't heard of him using for a couple years when I made that post. We had a couple heartfelt talks where he said he was done with the stuff and how getting into it had made his life worse, so I thought that was no longer going to be a problem for him. Six month later and it's all starting again. Of course, I should have known. And yes, Party BJ is a worse addiction, but he has no money for that and hopefully won't have money for tweak either. I know him and know that he will definitely choose tweak over gambling any day of the week if he is using. DN |

The iou thing is laughable...definitely did not happen. If you continue to give this guy money, which you shouldn't-- it's his habit let him support it, just realize he is lying to you. He will say whatever he thinks will get you to give in, playing on your emotions and (past) friendship.

Just make sure he can't get into your house - change your locks.

Just make sure he can't get into your house - change your locks. "You see what I got - it's an IOU mother [censored]" [/ QUOTE ] This is very true. I had a very good friend who was a serious junkie. He asked if he could sleep on the couch one night because he owed someone money he couldn't pay or something and didn't want to go back to his place. He had never asked me for anything before, so I didn't think anything of it. Of course, I wake up and everything's gone. That's cool if you want to try to be friends with him, but just realize that he'll [censored] you over the first chance he gets if it'll get him money or drugs. And it sounds like that's exactly what he's been doing for some time. |
