Re: The size of our world
You mean you take these pictures of scale as scientific fact and don't dismiss it out of hand as you do with evolution?
I don't know whether to be shocked, or impressed. |

Re: The size of our world
[ QUOTE ]
Isn't the greatness of God awesome? Great post. We're so small and insignificant in the grand scheme of things, and yet God knows the number of hair on each of our heads. That amazes me. [/ QUOTE ] You've successfully dumbed down this thread. Bravo. |

by "pointless" I didn't mean that they do nothing.. I mean that with an omnipotent god's capabilities, it seems unnecessary [/ QUOTE ] To me it seems the logical way to do it. Anyways, I'm still don't understand why you think God's creation is "lame". Wether or not God created it, the universe is unquestionably wonderous. Stu |

Re: The size of our world
How do you know the bible isnt true?
My reason says the evidence isnt good enough Why do you trust your reason? Because reason tells me to trust my reason. |

Re: The size of our world
God must have been inordinately fond of the laws of physics he created for our universe.

Re: The size of our world
Careful, this sort of thing might give people the idea that the world wasn't created especially for us.
Please explain? Just because our nieghbors backyard pool isnt the largest in the world means it wasnt built specially for them? |

Stu [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] To me it seems the logical way to do it. [/ QUOTE ] if god created it another way..that world would seem logical to you as well...if there is a god, our universe would be perfect by definition, right? no matter how it "looked" and operated and what laws governed it (which wouldn't hold anyway with the existence of an omnipotent god) [ QUOTE ] I'm still don't understand why you think God's creation is "lame". [/ QUOTE ] God apparently needs only one thing..that is a constant ego boost from little being, which he specifically designed to worship him... "Ak : If the Lord is all-powerful, why does He care whether we worship Him or not? Ak just saying. Homer : Well, Ak, it's because God is powerful, but also insecure, like Barbara Streisand before James Brolin. Oh, he's been a rock." Simpsons sending us on little missions to other planets to reproduce to make more little worshipers does indeed seem "lame" to me.. or if we were never intended to colonize other planets, a bunch of pointless planets does indeed seem "lame" as well to me.. [ QUOTE ] Wether or not God created it, the universe is unquestionably wonderous. [/ QUOTE ] to me, it seems less wonderous with a god in the picture..not only because of the reasons of his ego strokes, but also because I can think of much cooler things to do with omnipotence of course this is all just my humble opinion |

Re: The size of our world
Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_stars
The largest one has almost 4x the diameter of Antares. The article for it says that if it replaced the Sun in our solar system, it would extend to the orbit of Saturn. |
