Assuming you mean shakes with ice cream (we call 'em frappes back home, shakes don't have ice cream), I go with shakes.

I was never too into the malt flavor, in general. But they're a good treat from time to time.

What the hell are you talking about?

[/ QUOTE ]

Indeed. Where exactly is back home, and what do shakes consist of there?

[/ QUOTE ]

Just milk evidently.

[/ QUOTE ]

SE Mass. A large chunk or RI is like this, too. And I'm not sure if it's just milk or if it's cream. I think cream, but I'm not sure. I always got frappes.

I have never had a banana malt, but banana desserts are my favorite, so I voted for that because I know I'll love it.

I think shakes must be better.

Chocolate malt made/w vanilla ice cream. It is important to specify this as making it with chocolate ice cream is overkill. Butterscotch malts are a real treat, too.

Malt afficiandos,

Ever notice how ice cream parlor malt powder is better than Ovaltine and Carnation? I try to make them at home and they are never the same.

[/ QUOTE ]

You can buy malt powder in any grocery store.

Wiggum: Do they have Krusty partially-gelatinated non-dairy gum-based beverages?

Your answers will be busted because a "shake" is not a shake is not a shake. In most places a shake is milk + ice cream, but in some places, a shake is exactly that, shaken cold milk, and the ice cream/milk concoction is something else. That's the case in, for example, Rhode Island, where a shake as I know it (with ice cream) is often called a "cabinet."

I prefer shakes (cherry flavored, BTW) to malts, but I still enjoy a good malt.

Borodog: I hope people who don't know what a f'ing shake is will stay away from my poll.

TH, KBZ: STFU.

Aces: I haven't either, but I've had a banana shake that was great and just found a place that offers banana malts. Will try one soon.

I suggest you move.

And a Shake was going to be my answer (along with an OBVIOUSLY label), but then I realized that what you guys are calling a malt isn't what thought it was... I always thought a malt was some kind of soda with a scoop of ice cream in it. I'll have to try a real malt as I love me some Whopper candy!
