JJ hand against a major league LAG, large pot
Villian's stats are 56/27/3.7. He loooooves scare boards, and he is a habitual slowplayer and check-raiser, which is why I thought for a bit and called his flop bet. My image is ultra-tight at this point.
The plan as I called was to take the pot away on the river if he showed weakness or I got a nice scare card. Both happened, and thus the river bet. Note that there was no thought of pushing on the turn. I was quite happy to simply call that bet. I had some reasons for it, but I'll elaborate on them later if this hand generates any interest. I think it's a complicated and interesting hand, personally. If he folds you were probably ahead all the way

If he folds you were probably ahead all the way [/ QUOTE ] Correct. He will never fold a K, never fold a 9. He will fold hands like AT and others, and maybe he folds QQ (which is an unlikely holding) |

There is no reason to make a big bluff if your hand has a reasonable chance of winning a showdown. Also i believe you can find a better spot to make a stand than 2nd pair !

That river bet is tough, only the better hand will call you. If he had pair of Kings he would make an easy call. In this case, I would've pushed or raise the turn, as he makes a small weak bet on the turn. You are likely up against AT or the nut spade draw.

If I was in his spot, I'd be check-call with a ton more hand then I'd be betting.

If he folds you were probably ahead all the way [/ QUOTE ] He was not a station. He applied a lot of pressure but he found folds. I believe he is capable of a big-ish fold, or I never would have made this play. He made his river decision after using almost all of his time, fwiw. |

This is a pretty good board to check/call the river on, with a medium strength hand.

I check behind on river, he folds anything you beat, he pretty much calls with the rest.
