I know you said not to, but she is going to think you of you in corny high school-mode if you get her flowers, being as she is already much older than you.

[/ QUOTE ]

That's why you don't get 'flowers', you get a 'flower'.

Yellow with a splash of red say 'we are friends and I want to [censored] you'. Solid red sends the wrong signal.

A bunch of non-romantic flowers with no roses just says "I didn't know what to do, so I stopped by Safeway..."

[/ QUOTE ]

This is actually along the lines of what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure if a rose was best or something else was more appropriate. If I decide to do this, should the stem be wrapped with the paper and stuff in any certain way.

[/ QUOTE ]

The florist will dress it with those little white dried flowers (babies breathe?), add a vitamin water thing to the cut stem and wrap it in paper...

Goes over very well.

even though in some weird way i find this entire topic slightly disturbing, i have to agree with By-Tor on this one. One flower, simple yet thoughtful. Shows you put a little bit of brain power into this date.

Get a single rose, but not red. Get like peach or purple or something.

And I know if I don't already state it, I will get the question, so no pictures.

Send her flowers before hand with a note, "Looking foward to this evening. Hope you have a good day. jws." And send them to where she works. Chicks love getting flowers at work. Gladiolas are in season right now, not very expensive and big and showy.

Flowers at work is one of the all-time chick sure things. But wait till after the first date, I'd say, or you put the femme under too much pressure and scrutiny. What happens between two people is often inherently ridiculous, too, and you don't want that broadcasted necessarily. Lots of the very best stuff is corny as hell, and a guy you haven't been on a date with yet giving you flowers in person might be perfectly cool, while a guy you've never even gone out with sending you flowers at work might make you look like a geek who dates geeks.

If there's ANYTHING a lot of women tend to hate, it's looking less than fashionable and in a controlling position. And dating desperate guys is NOT fashionable or smoothly in control. It's a reputation destroyer.

Plenty of people would rather be unhappy than unfashionable.

I think the most appropriate flower would be a pansy.

Your response- brilliant, in my opinion.
