Re: Throwdown with Bobby Flay
[ QUOTE ]
I never thought of a chef as being in the "easy to hate" category. Why is this? [/ QUOTE ] I don't know anything about cooking or food or what happened with the Iron Chef matches but my GF watches Food Network a lot and he definitely comes off as extremely smug. They also replayed the Emeril recently where BF was a guest and it seemed like he was trying to show Emeril up the entire time. |

Re: Throwdown with Bobby Flay
I'm actually kinda looking forward to Alton Brown's new show, Feasting on Asphalt.
This Bobby Flay thing doesn't really interest me. Also, Dids is correct, Bobby Flay is a little creepy/arrogant. It's not a good combo. Also, of course the Marine won. It's what we do. |

Re: Throwdown with Bobby Flay
This show is fairly entertaining. I like bobby flay - you need to be a bit cocky if you are going to be a competitor in anything.

Re: Throwdown with Bobby Flay
i would like to see Alton Brown in one of the Food Network competitions. I love Good Eats and can't wait for Feasting on Asphalt. If GE is entirely scripted and he actually knows nothing about food that sucks, but if he's really as food intuitive as he comes across as, that's awesome.

[/ QUOTE ] Alton Brown would probably lose at any cooking competitions, especially those on TV. He doesn't cook unique dishes. But he can master simple dishes, like making the perfect meatloaf or fried chicken. I am looking forward to his new show. Bobby Flay's wife is hot. |

Re: Throwdown with Bobby Flay
Feasting On Asphalt is a bad choice. Sounds like a pending motorcycle accident.
I do like Alton Brown though and will surely tune in. |

Re: Throwdown with Bobby Flay
I think BF comes off as a complete ass, however I would love to try his food, and don't doubt his abilities.
Not to hijack, but did anybody see the episode of Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations in Spain, where he ate at some restaurant I think called Il Bullio or something. God I want to eat at that place, course by the sound of it, I doubt it's less than 2k a seat. |

Re: Throwdown with Bobby Flay
I read in the NY Post that Bourdain is currently stuck in Lebanon. He was filming a new show when the war broke out.

ThreeMartini-
He does have a motorcycle crash. El D- Mediocre considering how good he's supposed to be, or mediocre as in "I wish I had gone to Applebee's?" |

Re: Throwdown with Bobby Flay
It just seems like every one of Flay's dishes is the same kind of southwestern spices, peppers, with little originality or flair. I'm sure his salsas are great, but I think we're looking for a little bit more out of him.
