The first time you work a muscle group heavy in a long time you could be sore up to 1-2 weeks, regardless of if you worked it light before. Stretching more will help, but the next time you are able to work that group it will get MUCH better. [/ QUOTE ] Yep, you gotta lift regularly. Anytime you take time off you will be really sore the first time back. Of course if you are lifting hard, you'll be sore everytime, but not nearly as bad as your first time back after a break. |

I really don't give a rat's ass about claims like that. It's worked for me extremely well, and not doing it seems to have coincided with negative results in pretty much every athlete I've ever known. It's a part of warming up that it makes no sense not to do. Avoid stretching before work-outs all you want, and enjoy the consequences. As someone exercising logic and withOUT the pulled muscles everyone seems to get, I'll leave you to the definitiveness of your pooh-poohing.

I have lifted weights for forever and still get sore after a heavy day. I thought that was supposed to happen. biggest help for me is stretching afterwards.

a super long warm down. i like to swim a half hour. the colder the better. if you want to be super hardcore you could go to 7-11 and buy a bunch of ice and bathe yourself in icy coolness for 15 min. |

I figure the soreness is a sign I did it right. I expect it and look forward to it if I haven't been to the gym in months. Sorry, no [img]/images/graemlins/smirk.gif[/img] tips on reducing it other than getting to the gym regularly
