Now that I think about it calling might've been the better option since my read was that he had KQ or AQ. It so happens that it wouldn't have affected this hand. I've been laying down over pairs a bit too much lately to tight players who I felt had sets on check-raises & raises on the flop. I push, he shows QJ and his hand holds up.

What does he think your preflop re-raising standards are? If he thinks you only reraise with AA or KK preflop, you are in trouble.

I have been folding a lot of one pair hands in NL$50 lately to this type of aggression. It seems that 1 pair isn't good enough to withstand this sort of aggression at the NL$50 level, unless you have a read otherwise.
Is that too weak? |

I would push this, you're more likely to be shown A-Q or K-Q than a set.

The effective stacks are not even CLOSE to deep enough to consider anything other than a push.

good point josie_wales, ok so folks lets assume that he absolutely has AQ .. what's the consensus push or call? I've gotten differing opinions so far. I thought my push was fine.

But AQ-KQ will fold while a set calls.
Just call and let him keep betting. |
