Why would anyone wanna watch that on their own free will?

I was on the horror movie message boards on IMDB, and some idiot linked to a vid (with NO warnings whatsoever) that started with a fairly close-up view of a guy getting his neck sawed at with a large knife. Fak, I didn't need to see that.

I'm pretty desensitized to a lot (shooting, fighting, stabbing, etc.) but I have no inclination whatsoever to witnessing somebody's head being sliced off. Like the scent of burning flesh, there is just something instinctively offending about it.

personally,I watch these movies for a couple of reasons: 1). to see if I can handle the images, and 2). to voluntarily desensitize myself. I'm in the middle of Marine Officer training (active duty, ground) and all that so I wanna be sure that if/when I head overseas, it won't be the first time i've seen something as repulsive as what's on those videos...then again, can you really prepare for seeing stuff like that in real life? guess I'll find out...

Yeah, I guess that takes it to the next level. Watching video is one thing, but actually seeing something replusive in person.

I will more than likely NEVER watch the Berg video. A couple of friends have seen it, and they can stomach more than I can, and the one was really messed up about it, which was pretty scary.

Good luck in your training, and take care!

I just watched it for the first time. I 'm still a little shocked, and a more than little nauseated. I watched it to get a better sense of humanity. And because it's kinda hard not to when everyone's talking about it.

My one prevailing thought after I finished watching the video:"Man, beheading is so much cleaner in the movies." I think one could minimize the video itself and simply listen to the noises to get the same effect...to me the sounds were much more disturbing than than the visuals.

I've seen it several times, but The Exorcist still makes me cringe...

Yeah, the scene where the video camera falls over on its side in the living room when he is attacking that girl is probably the most disturbing 2 minutes of cinema I have ever seen.
