Forgot about Big L, top 10 imo.

[/ QUOTE ]

He's my favorite rapper, but I didn't put him in my top ten. I think he could have been top ten if he had gotten the chance. I still think he's top twenty. I don't know anybody who hears him and doesn't like him.

Andre 3000 is in my top 5 and I have no problem with somebody having Jay Z #1 on their list.

I like Common, but I don't think he's anywhere near top ten. I mean, dude, we get it, you respect women.

"The Bitch in Yoo" is hot.

Common Sense is easily Top 10. Common, however, is not, as he got soft 'cause of the guava.

The list isn't that horrible if you remove Tupac from the 2nd spot.

I think trying to rank art like this is a really futile thing to do.

The List is easy.

Reggie, Jay-Z, Tupac, Biggie, Andre from Outkast, Jada, Kurupt, Nas, then Eminem.

I don't get your Slim Shady thing

"I'm Slim, Shady is rally a fake alias to use just in case I get captured by space aliens" (aka, I'm using this name in case I get sued by Mars for the Eminem name, which he prefered)

This list smell like hot dog water. I like all the MCs involved, but many are too one note to be near top 10. Q-Tip and Guru especially.

If I had to make a top ten list, It might look like this- presented in no order. And mostly just in terms of my opinion and not any historical impact (which means KRS and Rakim aren't on there, as while I acknowledge they're dope and amazingly important, they personally don't move me a whole ton)

Ice Cube
Common Sense
Jay Z
Shock G
Slug
Boots Riley
Nas
Pos from De LA
Chuck D
Eminem (iffy selection, amazing technically, horrible choices of subject matter)

I love the Shock G inclusion.
I agree about Rakim, he's important, but I just never felt his stuff...KRS though is just sick. He's just so freakin good and clever and straight up coldBLOODED!

I prefer the songs where E uses the Slim Shady persona...I got the idea from this excellent R.Chirstgau article .
