Re: Peyton Manning?
Even Edge34 noted how terrible Manning's accuracy was early in the game. You are trying way, way too hard here.

Re: Peyton Manning?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] No. We only piss on his performaces in games where he gets knocked out of the playoffs. That's the whole point. He's All-Universe until it really matters, and be it against the Patriots, or at home in the 2nd round off a bye (this is the 2nd time he's blown one of *those*), he's all-scrub when the pressure is really on the line. It's not that we aren't willing to give him credit for rocking in Week 6. It's just that we know what's waiting around the corner when things start to get hot and heavy. [/ QUOTE ] He did a bad job of blocking in this game, I agree. Manning's got to get to the line and seal off the oncoming linemen, push them away, then throw the ball. [/ QUOTE ] Yawwwwwwwwwwwwn. It's *never* his fault according to his defenders. The fact is that every one of the recent elimination games were eminently winnable if he has even an *average* game. [/ QUOTE ] Yawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn, the exaggeration defense. Of course Manning takes a share of the blame, but saying things like "He's an awful QB" and "He can't play in the clutch" is just stupid. He played a decent game. Could he have played better? Sure. But again, there are others on the field after Manning. There's even a coach or two that helps. Cody |

All of their recent elimination games were winnable if he and he alone has an average game. That includes the D, the O-Line, the WR's and the RB. Change one variable, that being Manning's performance, and they win ALL of those games. If they lose by 30, your argument that it's everyone's fault has merit. But the fact remains that relative to his typical high standard, he has VASTLY underperformed when it mattered most. For well over a decade now. |

Re: Peyton Manning?
[ QUOTE ]
Also Brady has had better teams around him in the clutch, so he gets the rep of being a clutch QB. Niether of them is really any better then the other at being "clutch", it's a 22 person game and they are but one player. [/ QUOTE ] Negatory. Brady had a better-than-average team around him when he won his first superbowl against St. Louis. This year, Peyton's team was the best in the NFL until they played their first football game. Plus, Manning had multiple opportunities to lead his team down the field near the end of the game, but he was too scared to even throw the ball -- thus the huge number of sacks. |

[/ QUOTE ] So by that logic, are they still winnable if, instead of Manning, the O-line steps up and blocks "decent", or if Reggie Wayne catches one jump ball in the endzone, or if the Defense plays "decent". I think that's the point, place blame where it belongs. Coach Dungy, Manning, the O-line, the Defense, all had reason to share in the blame for thier loss. It isn't just Manning. Cody |

The 9/18 for 100 yards in the first half, where the game was largely decided? The two picks that somehow the refs didn't see fit to give Pitt? Or the garbage yards that he got when Pitt was already up by 3 scores? Note how once it got to the "winnable" stage, suddenly he couldn't move the team as efficiently any longer. When it matters most, he evaporates. |

[/ QUOTE ] isn't the real story just how inept all these AFC playoff teams were this weekend? Denver couldn't score w/o getting the ball inside the 20, NE couldn't hold on to it, Indy could protect their QB, and Bettis manages to nearly fumble away the game. can't anyone put a game away anymore? and the officating has been worse than any of the players. geez, this is a pathetic weekend. |

On the one touchdown drive he threw what was maybe a pick maybe not. Either way it was bad. So he did a little bit late. Whatever. He is mr. multiple MVP and overruled the coach. If you do that you better win. He didn't. |
