Re: Young, single guys who live alone or with friends
[ QUOTE ]
Agreed, 100k over 8 years really isn't that much. 13k a year to have the freedom and life I have living alone? I'd easily do it again [/ QUOTE ] Yea so true cuz all you guys are pulling this in a year with your mad poker skillz. For most people putting away 100K AFTER TAXES would take a significant amount of time...hell most Americans have a NEGATIVE SAVINGS RATE. I doubt you are smarter than the average american. Have fun paying that 28% interest on your credit card this month...... |

Re: Young, single guys who live alone or with friends
[ QUOTE ]
The last time I lived at home was the summer after my fresman year of college. I imagine this is pretty typical. [/ QUOTE ] Agreed. After my sophomore year I stayed in my college town in the house I got for my third year. After my third year I had an internship. Then I graduated one quarter into my fourth year and moved to a new city with a job. |

Re: Young, single guys who live alone or with friends
In your particular situation you should definitely move out on your own or live with a friend. The only reason you should spend any time living at home is if you are doing it to save up money to buy your own place.
Its time to establish a grown-up relationship with your parents. Don't be a mamas boy. |

Re: Young, single guys who live alone or with friends
im 22, going to graduate this quarter. I found a job near (~20 minutes) from where my parents live. Im currently planning on moving back in for about a year or two to save a bit of money before permanently moving out.
edit (after reading the post below mine): i should also note that this would be in the bay area. |

Re: Young, single guys who live alone or with friends
I'm 26 and I'm living at home for the summer. I love it, if my parents weren't moving in August i'd probably stay here longer.
I still get out a lot. About 2 nights I end up not at home anyway. Very good free food and no rent is saving me thousands each month. Also in the bay area I'm meeting a lot of successfully employed people my age who still do live with their parents, and there's not much stigma associated with it because of the cost of living here. In order to save anything on a 50kish salary it's pretty hard to rent. |

Re: Young, single guys who live alone or with friends
I guess you could say I moved out for college at 18 since I went out of state, but I recently transfered to a school back home at 20 and am moving out again (permanently, I hope) next month.
I'd say your mom is crazy. |
